Amenities on the island include two freshwater pools and Jacuzzi, tennis courts, water sports, fishing, spa and everything that can be expected on the ultimate idyllic island paradise.

If the 11,200 square feet of living space offered by the Coral Gables luxury home and 1.5 acres of property on the Coral Gables Waterway don’t offer enough room to stretch your legs, fear not: the property also includes a private island in the Florida Keys. Situated 18 miles from Miami in the waters of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the island features two guest houses, swimming pool and boat dockage. An even more private getaway from your private getaway, I suppose.

From the magnificent Spa Pallazo – a rejuvenating and tranquil haven – to the state of the art fitness center, there was no shortage of pleasurable activities.

People staying at a resort are there for one of two reasons: business or pleasure. Either way, when a day of hard work or an afternoon of golf ends, one retreats back to the comfort of the guestroom. It’s a great feeling to walk in and see a freshly made bed and neatly folded bath linens; knowing all the while you did nothing to assist with the pristine condition of the room. Often times though, it’s the little details that complete the opulent experience. In the case of The Boca Raton Resort & Club, the turn down service was one of these details. I misspoke…it was the “treats” that were left when the service was completed. Each evening there was a delectable piece of chocolate or delightful key lime cookies waiting atop the untouched bed. Who knew that such small tokens were capable of making such a big difference?

And I still think $10 is outrageous for a movie ticket. Especially with the talkers, cell phone checkers, texters, seat kickers, etc., that add their special brand of annoyance to the movie-going experience of today. While theater owners and managers are currently facing a dilemma in creating a positive experience for their patrons, a new brand of movie theater is coming to the U.S. Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas, originally founded in Australia in 1997, are coming to America complete with all of their luxury amenities, along with a $35 cost per ticket.

Complexes will boast theaters that have reclining armchair seats with footrests, digital projection, a lounge and bar serving cocktails and appetizers, concierge service and valet parking. And forget about popcorn, soda and Milk Duds; Gold Class Cinemas will serve made to order foods such as sushi prepared from on-site chefs, brought to your reclining seat by a waiter.

The plan is to construct 50 Gold Coast Cinemas across the U.S. over the next five years, with the first two opening in October in South Barrington, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and the Seattle suburb Redmond, Washington. I’m certainly all for improving the theater experience, but at what cost I’m not sure. After spending $35 for a ticket, I’d certainly have to cut out my $4 Reese’s Pieces and $10 popcorn/Coke combo…or make that my (sure to be even more expensive) California Roll and Prosecco.
