Idyllic Seattle

October 18th, 2006 by Lilly

I recently visited a friend who has just moved to Bellevue, Washington, a city just outside of Seattle, and the area left quite an impression on me.  On a particularly beautiful day we hopped on a boat and coasted around the perimeter of Lake Washington, admiring perhaps the most beautiful collection of luxury homes I’ve seen (including the home pictured right, as well as Bill Gates’ mansion).  Each home in this idyllic setting had its own unique style - I couldn’t decide which I liked best.  Throughout my vacation, my friend dutifully guided me everywhere else around the Puget Sound, and I continued to be impressed by the luxury homes of the Seattle area.  Since my return home I’ve been keeping my eye on the market.  Here are a few of my favorite homes…

Mercer Island is the place to be - surrounded by Lake Washington with views of the grand Mount Ranier.  I particularly love this house for its 180 degree views and impeccable custom design.  I like to imagine watching the sun set over water while eating dinner on the covered wrap-around porch, or waking up in the master bedroom to a spectacular view from my bed.

I couldn’t resist mentioning this Mercer Island house, either, as I have a fondness for Mediterranean style homes. This home’s extensive covered decks overlooking the lake remind me of picturesque Cinque Terra in Italy.  I could go on and on about the variety of homes on Mercer Island, but I’ll move on and allow you to check them out for yourself.

Many Seattle area luxury homes have an emphasis on outdoor living, and this spacious Bellevue home is no exception with its wrap-around decks and barbecue deck.  This home also has gorgeous views of the lake.  Amenities include a home theater and a temperature-controlled wine cellar.  Find more Bellevue homes here.

Of course, I can’t talk about Seattle-area homes without mentioning one in the heart of Seattle!  This penthouse with views of Elliot Bay and the Olympic mountains comes complete with a 900-gallon columned tropical fish tank.  The 2000-square-foot patio with fire pit has an infinity spa pool and Jacuzzi.  This city home is a true paradise.

All of the homes I mentioned here are listed with John L. Scott Real Estate.

What an amazing penthouse! With expansive views of Elliot Bay and Olympic Mountains, plus the 800-gallon fish tank in the kitchen, this would definitely be an “Idyllic” place to call home.

I’d be interested to see what exquisite homes are featured in Oregon.

[…] I received a comment on my Seattle post asking about luxury Oregon properties.  I’ve never been to Oregon - although I’ve heard it’s gorgeous and I plan to go this spring - so I was also interested in seeing what the Beaver State has to offer.  I must say I’m impressed!  The luxury homes I found are stunning and diverse, situated in breathtaking settings, such as the Rogue River property pictured left.  Architect Daniel Solomon utilized simple, clean lines to reflect the natural surroundings in a subtle and graceful manner.  Wisteria-covered pergolas add a classic touch to the serene pool area, and the interior of the home is elegant to the last detail.  Now that your interest is piqued, read on about more luxury Oregon homes… […]

I loved your notes on Seattle. We have lived in Redmond, WA (near the Microsoft campus) for the last six years. This area is booming with magnificent homes. I would love to see your feature some properties from the Sammamish Plataeu, Redmond or Woodinville.
